Student Excellence at Rutgers School of Nursing

Three students enrolled in the PhD in Nursing program at Rutgers School of Nursing recently were honored as Rising Stars of Research and Scholarship at the 2024 Creating Healthy Work Environments conference hosted by Sigma (the international honor society for nursing).

The prestigious event welcomed student honorees from just 20 colleges and universities who were selected as Rising Stars and invited to present their research, literature review, or evidence-based project at the March 8-10 conference in Washington, DC attended by more than 600 nursing students and nursing professionals in clinical practice, nursing management, administration, and education.

The Rutgers School of Nursing students represented Alpha Tau, the school’s chapter of Sigma. Congratulations to these outstanding students and their faculty advisors:

• Masheal Alamrani, MSN, presented “Nurses’ Perceptions of Person-Centered Care in Inpatient Care Units in Saudi Arabia.” Faculty Advisor: Shira Birnbaum, PhD, RN

• Isaac Nkrumah, MSc, RN, presented “Competencies of Maternal-Child Healthcare Workforce on Self-Management Education and Support for Gestational Diabetes in Africa.” Faculty Advisor: Emilia Iwu, PhD, RN, APNC, FWACN.
